A new and exciting addition has come to the grounds of the Haan Mansion Museum. A Sculpture Garden in the lawn area behind the mansion displays 24 sculptures by some of the best sculptors in Indiana. The .2 mile long wheelchair accessible loop trail passes through the Theater Garden, giving wheelchairs access to that feature.
There are a broad and diverse range of works in the Garden. Bronzes by Tuck Langland, metal sculptures by Greg Mendez, works in clay by several artists including Marvin Bartel and Bill Kremer, amazing carved Serpentine stone pieces by Peter Rujuwa, and even a glass piece by Kathleen Kitch. African animals are interspersed throughout the garden to provide a safari search.
Landscape work is complete except for gardening, and planting will begin in the spring.
We're very grateful to the Indiana Office of Tourism Development for a grant of almost $50,000 to help the project move forward, and a grant of $21,776 from the Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette to further advance the project. . We are seeking still more sponsors for the installation of the individual sculptures.
